Privacy Policy
Effective:
1. Introduction.
This Privacy Policy explains how Bondly, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) under number 89320476, trading as Bondly Pet Care, with its address at Blaak, 3011 XP Rotterdam, the Netherlands (“Bondly,” “we,” “us” and “our”), collects, uses and protects personal data when you use our mobile applications (the “App”), our website at https://bondlypets.com (the “Site”) and our related services (together, the “Bondly Service”).
This Privacy Policy applies to pet owners (“Owners”), pet carers (“Carers”) and visitors to the Site. Capitalised terms not defined here have the meaning given in our Terms of Service. Bondly is the controller of your personal data. Questions can be sent to contact@bondlypets.com.
2. Personal Data We Collect.
2.1 Account data. Your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and your Google or Apple ID if you sign in that way.
2.2 Pet data. Your pet’s name, breed, age, size, health notes, behaviour and photos.
2.3 Booking and payment data. Requests, dates, addresses, prices and payment status. Card details are held by Stripe, not by us.
2.4 Messages. Chat messages between Owners and Carers, and messages to our support team.
2.5 Location data. Your service area, and the location of your device if you allow it. When a Carer starts a walk in the App, we collect the Carer’s GPS location until the walk ends.
2.6 Waitlist data. If the Bondly Service is not yet available in your area, you can enter your email address and area in the App or on the Site to be notified. We collect this information only to tell you when Bondly is live in your area.
2.7 Carer data. For Carers, we also collect the identity document checked during verification, the information Stripe needs to set up a payout account, the tax information required under DAC7 (BSN, date of birth, address, IBAN, earnings and number of Bookings), and records of cancellations, no-shows and fees.
2.8 Device and usage data. Device type, App version, IP address and crash reports.
2.9 Site data. The technical data our hosting provider needs to display the Site, such as your IP address. We do not use analytics or advertising tools on the Site.
3. How We Use Personal Data and Our Legal Bases.
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing your account, Bookings and payments | Performance of a contract |
| Showing the Owner the live walk and route | Performance of a contract |
| Verifying the identity of Carers | Legitimate interest: safety |
| Blocking contact details in chat and preventing fraud | Legitimate interest: safety and fair use |
| Sorting Carers who apply to a request | Legitimate interest: better matches |
| The AI booking assistant | Performance of a contract |
| Collecting fees and handling disputes | Performance of a contract and legitimate interest |
| Reporting Carers’ earnings to the Belastingdienst (DAC7) | Legal obligation |
| Keeping payment and accounting records | Legal obligation |
| Notifying you when Bondly is live in your area | Your consent, given when you join the waitlist |
| Sending news and offers by email | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Analysing crash reports | Legitimate interest |
Where we rely on legitimate interest, you may object. We will then stop the processing unless we have compelling grounds to continue, such as safety.
4. Live Location During Walks.
When a Carer taps Start on a walk, the App shares the Carer’s live location with the Owner of that Booking. Sharing stops automatically when the Carer ends the walk. We never track Carers outside an active walk, and the Carer must allow location access on their phone. We keep the route as part of the Booking record and only review it if there is a dispute about whether a walk took place. We do not use location data to rate or rank Carers.
5. Automated Processing.
We sort Carers who apply to a request by distance to the pet, rating and number of completed Bookings. Our chat filter automatically hides phone numbers, email addresses and payment details. A member of the Bondly team checks Carers’ identity documents, and a person always reviews a case before we suspend or close an account. We do not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing.
6. Sharing of Personal Data.
We never sell your personal data. We share it only where needed, with the following recipients:
| Recipient | Purpose |
|---|---|
| The Owner or Carer you book with | Name, pet details, address and Booking details |
| Stripe | Payments and payouts |
| Amazon Web Services (Frankfurt) | Hosting of the App, storage, email and SMS |
| Google Maps | Maps, addresses and live walk location |
| OpenAI | The AI booking assistant |
| Google and Apple | Sign-in |
| Netlify | Hosting of the Site |
| YouTube (Google) | Videos on the Site, only after you press play |
| Belastingdienst | Carers’ tax information (DAC7), as required by law |
| Other authorities | Only where the law requires it |
A Carer’s public profile (name, photo, service area, prices, ratings and reviews) is visible to Owners on Bondly. A Carer’s exact address and phone number are not.
7. International Transfers.
Some of our team members and service providers are located outside the European Economic Area. Our technical lead works from Pakistan, and OpenAI, Google, Stripe and Netlify may process data in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, together with appropriate security measures.
8. Retention.
| Data | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Account, profile, pet data, photos, chats and walk routes | While your account is active, and deleted within 90 days after you delete your account |
| Carer identity document | Deleted after the check. We keep only the result |
| Waitlist data | Until we notify you that Bondly is live in your area, or until you unsubscribe |
| Payment and invoice records | 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law |
| Carers’ tax information (DAC7) | 7 years, as required by Dutch tax law |
| Unpaid no-show or cancellation fee | Name, email address, phone number and the fee record, until the fee is paid |
9. Deleting Your Account.
You may delete your account in the App at any time. You must first complete or cancel any confirmed Bookings, and Carers must first withdraw their available balance. After you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 90 days. We only keep payment and tax records for 7 years, and the details of an unpaid fee until it is paid, because the law or our legitimate interest requires it.
10. Waitlist.
If the Bondly Service is not yet available in your area, you can join the waitlist in the App or on the Site by entering your email address and area. We use this information only to notify you by email when Bondly is live in your area. We do not use it for other marketing and do not share it with third parties, except our email provider. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in our email, after which we delete your waitlist data.
11. The Site, Cookies and Videos.
The Site does not use analytics, advertising trackers or tracking cookies, so it does not show a cookie banner. Fonts and images are loaded from our own Site, not from third parties. Videos on the Site are provided by YouTube. Nothing from YouTube is loaded until you press play, and we use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Once a video plays, Google may process data under its own privacy policy. The WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp, which is operated by Meta under its own privacy policy.
12. Security.
We store personal data in the European Union, encrypt it in transit and at rest, and limit access to the people who need it to perform their work.
13. Your Rights.
You have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict its processing, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise your rights, email contact@bondlypets.com. We respond within one month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
14. Children.
The Bondly Service is intended for people aged 18 and over. If we learn that a child has created an account, we delete it.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make important changes, we will inform you in the App or by email before they take effect. This Privacy Policy is available in Dutch and English. If the two versions differ, the Dutch version prevails.
